How To Be Courageous?

(Sharing 5 July 2010 Blogged 26 Jul 2010)

I prepared these some weeks ago. This may help to some extent…

It is not just biting the teeth so that one will be courageous. In fact, if there is not a way, the more you go up to the pulpit or stand before everyone to present, to manage and to lead, the more your courage will be lost. For believers, there is no way to be courageous except to be courageous in Jesus Christ. This is also to prepare the heart to share the gospel message. I do not mean just blabbering out, "Hey, you need Jesus, He has died and resurrected for you. Why don’t you believe?" but there needs the courage of Christ to give people the words of God from seeing the spiritual reality in ourselves and in people around us, so that we can share.

1. <Ps 1> Know The Conclusion of the Gospel

1 Blessed is the man
       who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
       or stand in the way of sinners
       or sit in the seat of mockers.

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
       and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
       which yields its fruit in season
       and whose leaf does not wither.
       Whatever he does prospers.

4 Not so the wicked!
       They are like chaff
       that the wind blows away.

5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
       nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
       but the way of the wicked will perish.

The one who goes up to the pulpit must already know the conclusion of the gospel.

2. <Ps 2:1-2> Spiritual Attacks are definite = Fear the Lord to take the pulpit stand

1 Why do the nations conspire
       and the peoples plot in vain?

2 The kings of the earth take their stand
       and the rulers gather together
       against the LORD
       and against his Anointed One.

Blessed are you if there are spiritual attacks for the one who knows the conclusion of the gospel. Therefore, if your emotions are in the right tune and your mind is in the right state, be all the more to fear the Lord.

3. <Ps 2:7-9> Jesus Christ the Anointed One => Totally Accept The Love of God -> Discover that "I am the anointed one"

7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD:
       He said to me, "You are my Son;
       today I have become your Father.

8 Ask of me,
       and I will make the nations your inheritance,
       the ends of the earth your possession.

9 You will rule them with an iron scepter;
       you will dash them to pieces like pottery."

When you go up before all men and all angels, you must already find that you have accepted all of God’s love. You cannot leave a bit of problems unresolved in your heart. Even the problems that are haunting are the reasons because you are chosen and anointed to go up to the pulpit, therefore, look far and above, and confirm the Holy Spirit to prepare your heart for spiritual battle. See that the curtains between the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place have been torn apart, and you discover a bruised Jesus Christ, rejected and alone, gentle yet trampled by all peoples and angels, yet above all (= the Model of Christ shown in the bible), who is but Me.

4. <Ps 2:10-12> See that people really need Christ = Look at the hungering people with importance

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
       be warned, you rulers of the earth.

11 Serve the LORD with fear
       and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
       and you be destroyed in your way,
       for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
       Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Before you speak, see that people really need Christ. Treat them as "kings" and "rulers", people placed before you by God, because they are not to be belittled but are the main characters of the era to take the lead to conquer and subdue the earth. They have the gospel and you are only one who temporarily take the stand of the pulpit to rule over them for a moment in time, to show them the very model of Christ. They need your example and your words, "Kiss the Son of God…", "Blessed are all who take refuge in Him!"… Look at them one-by-one, and think of them like how Christ thought of them and loved them with all His life.

5. Managing spiritual attacks in the midst of taking the pulpit = Find Concrete Ways to drive out demons

<Ps 3:1-3> Authoritative Prayers

1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
       How many rise up against me!

2 Many are saying of me,
       "God will not deliver him."
       Selah

3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
       you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.

Recognize the Satan Enemy, recognize the "numbness, slumber and stubbornness" in men as the enemy (not the men themselves), and use authoritative prayers to call to God.

<Ps 4:2-3,7> Tell Satan directly = The Lord definitely hears, only time will tell. Rejoice only in the already accomplished gospel = the Lord is testing your inner heart

2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame?
       How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?
       Selah

3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
       the LORD will hear when I call to him.

7 You have filled my heart with greater joy
       than when their grain and new wine abound.

Once the Lord hears the prayers that is set apart (that has found the perfect will), the Lord will start to work. Therefore, tell the timetable of the Lord to Satan. Rejoice only in that you are in the gospel already.

<Hab 3:17> Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls

<Ps 5:3-7> Look Objectively – Have I not walked with God?

3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice;
       in the morning I lay my requests before you
       and wait in expectation.

4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil;
       with you the wicked cannot dwell.

5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;
       you hate all who do wrong.

6 You destroy those who tell lies;
       bloodthirsty and deceitful men
       the LORD abhors.

7 But I, by your great mercy,
       will come into your house;
       in reverence will I bow down
       toward your holy temple.

Look at yourself and all men from out of your body. Look at yourself from above the earth and the angels. Do not only look at your current state, but look that there is more hope because you have growth for the past 10 years. Look more objectively and from more angles that you have walked with God and sought the Lord more and more already.

<Ps 6:2-8> Pour out to the Lord = Describe your agony in details to the Lord => Tell the Lord to be moved

2 Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint;
       O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.

3 My soul is in anguish.
       How long, O LORD, how long?

4 Turn, O LORD, and deliver me;
       save me because of your unfailing love.

5 No one remembers you when he is dead.
       Who praises you from the grave?

6 I am worn out from groaning;
       all night long I flood my bed with weeping
       and drench my couch with tears.

7 My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
       they fail because of all my foes.

8 Away from me, all you who do evil,
       for the LORD has heard my weeping.

Our ministry is to tell the Lord to work, not by our strength, but by His!

<Ps 7:3-5,8-9> Be ready to die (be ready to repent of every sin) = if the Lord judges, the Lord will be on my side

3 O LORD my God, if I have done this
       and there is guilt on my hands-

4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me
       or without cause have robbed my foe-

5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me;
       let him trample my life to the ground
       and make me sleep in the dust.
       Selah

8 let the LORD judge the peoples.
       Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness,
       according to my integrity, O Most High.

9 O righteous God,
       who searches minds and hearts,
       bring to an end the violence of the wicked
       and make the righteous secure.

Do not be afraid to confess hidden sins. It is only to your advantage that God is on your side.

<Ps 8:4-6,9> Resurrect = "What is man that You are mindful of him?"

4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
       the son of man that you care for him?

5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
       and crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
       you put everything under his feet:

9 O LORD, our Lord,
       how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Rejoice and praise the Lord; with this counterattack, sing "Hallelujah!". There is no reason to lose courage if the above is followed through.

6. <Proverbs> Grasp the perfect will of the Lord

If you know the perfect will of the Lord, you will not be anxious. If you know what God wants you to speak about, you can have the courage to speak and there is no need to be haunted by the enemy. But if it is the perfect will of the Lord, you will see eyes opening up and hearts beginning to hunger. They begin to flow in with your leading on the pulpit.

7. Concrete ways to de-stress = do not be afraid to self-introspect and put yourself in blessed schedule

There may be things that make you anxious for some time before you come to take the pulpit. Take that away as your heart needs calm and rest and sensitivity of the Holy Spirit. If you need some time to discover the perfect will of God, strike out that time and wake up earlier in the morning. Center your lifestyle on "pulpit, brethrens and serving" to test and approve in order to discover the God-driven blessed schedule.

Working in the company as a employee of covenant as God has called, living the role as a husband/wife/father/mother as God has called, enjoying church as God has called as a member, etc – live in the lifestyle that God has planned. When you keep yourself in the most normal way so that you can discover Emmanuel in all things and 24 hours, you put yourself in streams of living water, so that fruits will bear timely.

Food may bring sugar crush, but it is a good way to help gushing and negative thoughts to go away. Eating, exercising, sleeping – take all these as concentration prayers to bring your body to God. Coffee – if it helps to let you focus on the bible and prayers. Exercise – if you have tried many methods but busyness in keeping the blessed schedule has only made you tired. Sleep – if you have tried all but your body remains tired. Shout, vent out, drive faster (when alone), go to the mountains with scenery, but make sure your heart beat does not get faster. Emmanuel always come when you get slower and you can grasp your "GPS" location in your timetable for your work, family, church, etc laid by God.
